Das Unternehmen aus New Albany/Ohio, welches die Ketten Abercrombie&Fitch, abercrombie, Hollister und Gilly Hicks betreibt, plant nun, sich vor allem im Ausland vergrössern. Schon im vergangenen Jahr erhöhte sich der Auslandsumsatz um 86 Prozent auf rund 142 Millionen Euro. Für 2010 sind rund 25 Hollister-Stores, Abercrombie&Fitch-Flagship-Stores in Kopenhagen und Fukuoka /Japan und ein Abercrombie&Fitch Store in Kanada geplant. Hinzu kommt noch eine erste Filiale des Wäschegeschäfts Gilly Hicks in Grossbritannien und 2011 ein Store auf den Pariser Champs-Elysées.
Von den weltweit 1100 Stores (aller Marken) befinden sich bis jetzt nur 30 im Ausland. Insgesamt erzielte die US-amerikanische Bekleidungsgruppe im ersten Quartal 2010 ein Umsatzplus von 14 Prozent (flächenbereinigt 1 Prozent) mit rund 554 Millionen Euro.
