John Galliano- Women's ready to wear show Spring/Summer 2018 in Paris

Creative Director: Bill GayttenAtmosphere: The golden rooms of the Hotel Marois welcome Bill Gaytten’s collection for the house of John Galliano, inspired by the film ‘Cry Baby’ by John Water. Collection: A play on contrasts, between flowing and tailored, between delicate sensual silhouettes in tulle, lace and satin silk and more masculine shapes, a bit bad boy in oversized suit jackets, with collars covered in leopard print. To note: The pastel toned night dresses which reveal coloured underwear. The big jacket paired with a lace embroidered silk dress, the voluminous prom dresses adorned with flower petals, frills and ruffles. For a humorous touch, the logoed plastic bag and the rocker boots with multiple buckles.Interview from Bill Gaytten:Crybaby John waters. I’ve always been a fan of John Waters, ever since I was a teenager. And I watched crybaby, I’d never actually seen crybaby until recently, it’s sweet, it’s a love story and it’s a bad girl falls for a good girl and she falls for him. I love Teddy Boy clothes, I mean all that youth tribe English stuff, lots of drape jackets, high waisted trousers, pleats, narrow hems, ruffle shirts. And then the girls are great it’s sort of like prom princesses – it’s not often you get to do those kinds of dresses. There’s a lot of transparency but that’s sort of a Galliano house trait which I love and this time we’ve got quite shocking coloured lingerie again with lace inset. A lot of the colours of the clothes are pastel colours but then the underwear is electric blue or electric green. I like the full on look, it’s more the sort of story, cinema that sort of thing. But in reality we all sort of mix clothes. Music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information).
