Trendy Knitwear - Spring/Summer 2022-23 (Fashion for Breakfast)

Now that the first rays of sunshine are peeking through and have us looking forward to spring, let’s take a leap forward in time and project ourselves into next year’s summer season: S/S 22.

Today, we are going to explore a small part of our research on this season’s trends in women’s knitwear.

The first trend stems from the world of underwear: we are talking about the knit top bra, a reinforced and renewed version of lingerie tops, which now take on a new look and prominence. This garment, which is usually hidden under layers of clothes, now becomes the key element in various outfits and gives them a modern, super-feminine look.
This thin top resembles a classic bra with seams, but the knitted fabric makes it softer and figure-hugging for greater comfort, allowing easy movement. It is often made with summer yarns such as crepe viscose or 100% cotton, always in a comfort version in 12 or 14 gauge. Worn under an open cardigan or on its own with a skirt or trousers, it becomes a youthful and casual wardrobe staple.

The next trend, instead, offers an insight into menswear, which increasingly inspires and contaminates women’s fashion. The summer slim polo is a refined, feminine reinterpretation of the classic polo shirt with collar and tiny buttons, which is more typical of men’s leisurewear.
This new version is close-fitting, often in thin gauge, ribbed knitted fabric creating a transparent effect, occasionally enriched with new details such as laces and openings that add an extra touch of sophistication, making it suitable for a super-feminine look.
To complete the transition from one wardrobe to another, this garment comes in different colours: soft neutral or pastel shades, which give these polo shirts a new, bon ton look.

In the S/S 22 season, we can already see ourselves wrapped up in a delicate and sinuous slim long cardigan, an extra-long cardigan designed to hug the figure without being uncomfortable or tight fitting.
Made of comfortable, lightweight yarns with the addition of lurex or printed strips, ribbed as always, this cardigan becomes an actual dress, which is also an outfit in itself.
A slight hippie vibe comes through in the new, reinterpreted versions of this garment, which make it ideal to be worn with trousers, for a more casual look, or on its own for a minimalist, extremely sophisticated effect.

This S/S 22 trend takes us back in time: the crochet set whisks us away to a vintage era, for an ultra-feminine look that never loses its charm. These crochet trouser and top sets, with small cotton cords, instantly take us back to the world of beachwear, making them a perfect summer outfit that is both modern and retro. These light, perforated tops and trousers, enhanced by neutral and earthy colours, which remind us of summer and enhance their artisanal quality, gently wraps around the body, creating transparent effects that also add romantic and delicate touches.
