At the rochas show, held in the chaillot national theatre, you feel as if you have entered the softest of dreams and the array of silhouettes leaves you feeling thoughtful. swarovski crystals are scattered across an overcoat or a top, the lightness of a flimsy skirt made from organza, in duchesse satin or even in frosted lace, in which the girls parade like heroines from the world of cinema. marco zanini is inspired by tennesse william’s ‘the glass menagerie’, and manages to bring out all its beauty and delicacy. only powder colours are used, with hints of fluorescent. hand-painted, velvet flowers showcase the clothes further. a veil seems almost imposed over the top of the clothes whilst the materials appear paper-thin. and let’s not forget the golden and silver touches or even the pumps decorated with ostrich feathers. it must be noted that this will be the last collection by marco zanini for rochas after five years of collaboration. the italian, alessandro dell acqua will be his successor in 2014.
