Best of Paris Menswear Spring Summer 2017 : The designers advocate optimism and sincerity.

The political, economic and social context in the world is reflected of course in the fashion world too. the menswear designs for spring/summer 2017 unravel as normal despite facing uncertain times. the designers today ask themselves many questions about the future in general and about creating in particular. (interviews)references from the past multiply to create silhouettes of tomorrow but it’s above all the desire for a better, more peaceful and lighter world which is mirrored in many collections. (interviews)interviews from lucas ossendrijver, rick owens, dries van noten, olivier rousteing, véronique nichanian, paul smith. lucas ossendrijver:times are difficult in the world and in fashion. there are lots of changes and lots of things happening and it made me think about everything. i asked myself what i could do, why am i doing fashion in fact and the only answer that i had was because of creativity.rick owens:what i’m feeling now is a lot of change, we’re going through a period of change, which can be ominous, but the natural order of things is to evolve and for cycles to occur, maybe we’re coming to the end of a cycle and how do we handle that.dries van noten: looking again at what fashion is and the whole industry of fashion and seeing where i want to go, and for me it was really important to make a collection that was very close to my heart, i also reviewed a lot of things that i did in the past, but i didn’t review them just to make them again, i really want to push them towards the future. olivier rousteing: i wanted it to be relaxed, i wanted serenity, peace and optimism and i wanted to show belief in a future with good days ahead, overall, in the world that we live in today, i wanted to give people the chance to dream again.véronique nichanian: lightness because in this quite difficult world, i think a little bit of freshness and colour makes us feel good, and it also refers to the construction of clothes with lighter things for the summer, so lightness has a double sense, it is a plural lightness.paul smith:it is about happiness, a positive spirit and colour. as you and your viewers know we live in a world that is complicated and sadly full of terror and war, so i thought it was important to share my energy with my customers around the world and with the press therefore the show is very happy, very cheerful with bright coloursmusic free of rights : bandit & nikit
