Michael Kors - Women's Collection Spring/Summer 2019 in New York (with interviews)

Designer: Michael KorsInspiration: Joy and happiness are the main beliefs of the designer, who chose the South Manhattan harbour as the location for his show. The setting was adorned with paintings produced by the artist Christina Zimpel, who he collaborated with this season.Collection: summery colours are used for playsuits, dresses and luxurious jackets in various shades… the designer tones down his show with English embroideries decorating delicate white jumpsuits as well as crochet and lace dresses.Surfing patterns are printed all over jumpers, to be worn to your hearts content, “from the aeroplane to the beach…” just as the designer explains.Note: golden brocades on floral patterned short jackets + the variety of accessories from backpacks to big sandals + casting composed of Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Ashley Graham and Anna Ewers amongst others.Interview with Michael Kors :I think that you know, sometimes fashion people think that to be chic means that you have to be sad, and I don’t think so. I think that right now, everyone around the world, I think we’re overwhelmed with too much information. We never seem to disconnect. And I think we all need optimism, romance, glamour, but all of that in a way that makes sense for a busy life, so its romantic and athletic, the combination of the two things, so it’s not just for holiday because the rules are gone now; you can wear casual clothes to the office, you can wear sequins in paillettes for daytime, you can wear flat sandals at night. But I wanted that joy to just be something that really was very apparent in the collection. This sort of mixture of people, and the street of New York and the energy, the curiosity, you know that’s it’s never really closed, it’s always moving fast. So that speed, the diversity, the energy, that’s always for me going to be how I start the collection, and then you know, as far as what you want this season, you want a romantic white dress, definitely. You definitely want to have something in a bold sunny sort of natural print. I love a big painterly flower print, or even something that makes you feel like you’re in the South Pacific, painted by hand with fish and the aquatic world. Something that just puts a smile on your face.Music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information).
